Whether you’re facing specific difficulties in your relationship or want to grow and improve your relationship, I’m here to help. If you are experiencing disruptive conflict I can help you discover and change your dysfunctional cycle, find new, healthier ways to communicate and meet each other’s needs, and repair the hurt caused by past conflict. If you’re experiencing a loss of connection I can help you identify the cycles that are resulting in withdrawal, build a foundation for genuine connection, and learn tools to communicate more effectively and rediscover your passion for each other. My specialities include high conflict couples and highly avoidant couples. If you are interested in couples counseling, but your partner isn’t ready to take that step, I can help. I can work with you individually by providing support and helping you to discover your role in the issues, figure out where you can disrupt the cycle that is causing your problems, and find ways to cope with the difficulties you are facing in your relationship.

If you’re here, you might be feeling lost and hurt beyond what you could have ever imagined. I am here to help. I can help you rebuild your relationship after an affair and come out stronger than ever before. We will work together to identify what led up to the affair and I will provide a safe and supportive space to talk about the affair. I will help you to heal the hurt you are feeling, rebuild trust in your relationship, and build a better foundation of trust, communication, and connection. If you need help deciding how to move forward or how to end your relationship gracefully I can help with that too. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for support. You are not alone.

Discernment Counseling is a short-term, clarity-seeking process. With me as your trained facilitator, you will both be supported over 1-5 sessions. The goal is simply to decide what action to take next, whether that is to work on the marriage, separate or divorce, or for some couples to maintain things as they currently are. Discernment Counseling will give you the opportunity to reflect on what has brought you to this point, what your role is in the relationship difficulties, and what action is necessary to achieve change. Discernment Counseling is not intended as therapy to help improve the problems you are facing, but rather to gain clarity on how to move forward.

Premarital Counseling is a great opportunity to identify and address any areas of potential conflict before they become serious concerns in your relationship. These can include finances, expectations, family and in-law dynamics, decisions around having children and child rearing methods, and communication issues. It can also be a place to learn and develop healthy communication habits that can help you weather storms in the years ahead. Studies show that couples who participate in a premarital counseling program had higher marital success rates, more satisfied marriages, and were more likely to seek help when encountering problems later on. You are also eligible for a discount on your marriage license in MN if you participate in premarital counseling. I am a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, which we can use as a groundwork to identify strength and growth areas.
Specialties

Anxiety and OCD
Do you often feel stressed, exhausted, indecisive, or worried? OCD and anxiety can be incredibly disruptive and distressing, and can keep you from being fully present in your life. There are several evidence-based treatments for anxiety and OCD, and we’ll work together to find the approach that works best for you. We’ll identify the source(s) of your anxiety, identify what you’re doing to feed the anxiety, and find ways to respond to anxiety in a more productive and empowering way. We’ll tackle OCD through a treatment called Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). This exposure-based therapy involves a structured confrontation of your obsessive thoughts, while refraining from engaging in behaviors or rituals (compulsions) used to soothe them. I’ll support you as you take on this challenging, empowering and healing work. Let’s work together to get you back to a place where you can feel present, connected, and confident.
Life Transitions
Are you struggling with a transition in your life? Maybe you’re a new parent, or your child is starting school or moving out. Maybe you’re starting or graduating school, or retirement is not what you expected it to be. It’s common to feel disoriented when navigating a new stage of life. If your new role doesn’t match the identity you’ve developed or your expectations of this life stage, I’m here to help. We’ll work together to find new meaning, create goals, and align your priorities and values. We’ll navigate your changing relationships so that you can find contentment and joy in your new experiences. Let’s work together to discover how you can thrive in this new stage of life.
Relational Therapy
Do you need help with an important relationship in your life, but your loved one isn’t ready to start therapy? Maybe you want to discover and address your own role in your relationship issues first. Do you need help healing from a toxic relationship that is affecting your self-esteem and leaving you feeling lost and hopeless? I can help you individually with your relationship issues. I’ll help you recognize your role in the dysfunction and address what you are in control of. We’ll work together to find ways to change your relationship dynamics by breaking the cycle. I’ll help you learn how to cope with what you can’t change and ask for your needs to be met in a more effective way. You’ll learn how to recognize your needs and set clear boundaries for your own well-being. You’re not alone in this. I’m on your team, and I’m here to help.
How to get started.

When you’re ready to get started, get in touch using the contact form or schedule your initial consultation or intake appointment in the client portal. You can also email or call me! We are an online practice, which means we meet on a secure telehealth platform. We’ll find a time that works best for you, whether that is before work, during your lunch hour, or while your kids are at school. We also have limited evening availability. Just ask- your mental health is our priority!

It can be hard to start something new and we honor those feelings. If you’re not sure if anything will help consider asking yourself these questions:
• What are my fears about inviting change into my life?
• Is my fear of failure holding me back from trying?
• Did I have a previous bad experience in therapy? (Please talk to us- we will do our best to prevent that from happening again.)
• Am I worried my therapist will judge me or not like me? (We won’t- promise. We’ve seen it all!)
• Am I worried about what other people will think if I go to therapy? Is therapy only for “crazy people”?
• Am I telling myself I can handle this myself? Is that what my experience is telling me? What do my values tell me about helping others and accepting help from others?
• Am I worried I don’t have time to go to therapy? What amount of time are my unresolved struggles costing me currently?
